Great site that promotes healthy nutrition, activity, and reducing a sedentary lifestyle in children. The site makes mention of children ages 8-18 but I think you could adapt this to any age. Under nutrition I particularly like their GO, Slow, and WHOA labels for food. Go meaning you can eat as much of the food as you want, slow meaning ok sometimes, and Whoa meaning only on special occasions. These are simple terms that kids can understand and there is a chart for foods in each category. Great information provided here that I as a parent support.
We've heard so much about the great prevalence of childhood obesity and its negative consequences, but not so much on preventing or treating it. Plus changing your ways can be overwhelming. This page provides links to real-life, concrete tips for getting healthy. Easy to read and engaging! There's nothing overwhelming here. Very motivational and fun.
This is a great site that has some wonderful, practical tips to keep the whole family healthy. I like the fact that it is easy to navigate and engaging for both parents and older children. Even a brief skim will provide you with an idea that you can implement today to nurture healthier eating and activity choices. Love it!
